Picture the scene, your brother and his family are coming down for the week (benefits of living Cornwall – part time B&B) and you’re in the car with your wife discussing their visit. There is me telling Teresa that I suppose we will need to drag ourselves to church to please them, but there’s not much chance of us continuing it after they have gone – zip, nada, zilch, big fat zero, didly squat. How wrong I could be!
Before moving to Cornwall we had already been to this happy clappy church in Newquay () which by all accounts took me 7 months to recover. But we turned up on the Sunday morning in early July 07 with von trapp family in tow. 2 hours later I had a tingly sensation running through me, was I coming down with something I thought to myself. I found out some months later that yes I had been infected, I had been hit by the Holy Spirit bug, and thank Jesus Christ that I had.
My life was plodding along, happily married, three energetic children, two cars in the drive, a nice house in the country and a very good job, but something was missing – a challenge – I needed to stretch myself, find out more about who I am and what I can offer this world as a stepping stone. And to be honest I think I might have just stumbled across the ultimate challenge; being a Christian in the 21st century!
The obligatory bit. Teresa and I have been married for two years, we have three children; Isabel, Rhys and Scarlett and live just outside Truro in Cornwall. I am a 26 year old Digital Marketing specialist with a Diploma in Digital Marketing (in theory I can use Dip DigM after my name!) and currently working for a Digital Marketing Agency called in Penryn.
This is the start of my journey and I want to share it with as many people as I can, so keep clicking back!
Hi there –
great to read a bit of your blog
I was randomly searching for a church in Newquay for my neighbour (recently ’saved’ and added to all nations church in Cardiff … has a friend in newquay who wants to go along to a church meeting when she visits, next week)
As your blog and NCC practically popped up together, could I ask whether this is the church you are now a part of or just visited and what core values they have … perhaps in comparison to all nations in Cardiff … trying to find something similar to recommend in the Newquay area.
If you can help – great
If you can’t – keep on loving Jesus & keep up that tithing … it works
Beth
