Religion in business

church crossI was in church on Sunday speaking to Martin about working in a pressure cooker job while being a Christian. It can by all accounts be hard to remember your ethics when you know that your creditability is on the line Monday to Friday. If you lose face, you lose respect!

It doesn’t stop you needing the Holy Spirit in your daily life, but how can I be cut throat Monday to Friday, but a placid human at weekends! This is very much a million dollar question because the bible teaches us to love our enemy and not to live for money. But with a family to support, if I was to just give up my job one day and live off the land, who would pay the rent, council taxes, water, electricity etc etc. Now my garden isn’t big enough to grow acres of crops, if it was then maybe that would be my next challenge, but in today’s society, is it possible to actually live like this or are there just too many obstacles (mostly financial) in our way?

If anything causes you to sin, cut if off. (that’s the short answer)

Why do you have to be cut-throat at your job? There are plenty of Christians in the workforce not cutting any throats. hahaha

Does your job in some way cause you to sin?
